Physical therapy for foot and ankle

For people with foot or ankle pain, after a twisted ankle or from spending long hours on their feet.

We look at how your foot lands, how the ankle moves and what happens when you walk. We teach strength and balance exercises and give advice on shoes and on your work shift.

This care is for you if

  • You twisted your ankle and it still does not feel steady

  • Your heel or the sole of your foot hurts at the start of the day or the end of a shift

  • You work standing on concrete, in a kitchen or in a store

  • You are going back to work or sport after a fracture or surgery

What we do

We name it without promises: each plan depends on you.

  • Movement and strength

Exercises for the foot, ankle and calf, from the simplest to the most demanding.

  • Balance and steps

We practice foot placement and balance so the ankle feels steady.

  • Shoes and daily routine

Advice on shoes, breaks and how you stand during your shift.

Visits, therapists and paying

  • What decides how many visits you need

How many visits you need depends on what was hurt, how long ago, how many hours you spend on your feet and how your body responds to the exercises.

  • Who sees you

A licensed physical therapist, and sometimes an assistant working under their direction. On the team page we say which language each person speaks.

See your doctor first

Before you come, talk to your doctor:

  • If you cannot put weight on the foot after a fall or a twist
  • If the foot looks out of shape, pale, cold or has new tingling
  • If the ankle is very swollen, red or warm
  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.
